What is IRC?
IRC stands for "Internet Relay Chat". It was originally written by Jarkko Oikarinen in 1988. Since starting in Finland, it has been used in over 60 countries around the world. IRC is a multi-user chat system, where people meet on "channels" (rooms, virtual places, usually with a certain topic of conversation) to talk in groups, or privately. There is no restriction to the number of people that can participate in a given discussion, or the number of channels that can be formed on IRC. What is #cPanel Channel About? Help, the cPanel channel serves the same purpose as cPanels forums. It offers people the ability to ask questions. Unlike forums, IRC allows you to get a real-time response from another user who's online. So if you had a Question/Emergency you could join the #cPanel Channel and get help (that is if somebody is awake) or you could just join to talk with other fellow users. How do I get on IRC? you will need a IRC Client. Their are many out there. Below are a couple versions for different operating systems. Below is a list of IRC clients for diffrent operating systems.
Start your IRC client. Below you will see a Auto-Connect/Join Link. When you click it, your IRC client should start, connect to the network and join the #cPanel channel. If it does not work then your SOL and need to connect your self (better learning experience). Because every IRC client is different I'm not going to give a step by step how-to for each of them. At least not yet. Here's the basic info. IRC Server: irc.efnet.net |
